No payment is required. For now you must own a standard radio controlled airplane or helicopter to be granted membership. Drones do not qualify.

If you do not any of the above mentioned you can still attend our flight sessions to learn more and possibly acquire your first aircraft.

No model airplanes are not drones, these are radio controlled scales down versions of an actual aircraft built mainly to fly for recreational purposes. 

these are not equipped with cameras or any special types of sensors which could be used for any aerial work activity. apart from flying for fun. 

Just as full scale aircraft need training, practice and flight hours to be good at it so model airplanes require certain skill level to fly good and operate a particular  aircraft.  

Compared to camera drones which takes less effort to perfect as they fly autonomously while operators only guide then in sky a model airplane flies depend on your command and require little more attention from takeoff to landing.   

This  vary between the type aircraft, the build material used eg.(EPO Foam or Composite). The size, The build completion level and the kind of electronics equipped. a typical complete standard beginner level EPO foam aircraft should cost about $600 or more. and composite built turbine powered aircraft could easily exceed $10,000. The sky is the limit! and you may not need an expensive bird to enjoy the hobby. chears!
